I am taking a a slight break from trading as I think there is just a couple of things that need to click for me to be consistent daily. After a huge slump I took a couple steps back and have been grinding back up since.
I will be documenting the studies I've done on charts as well as my trades. I find when I write about my trades, it sticks and is easier to go back and view my thoughts of the past to build upon for the future.
My goal in trading is to make it a shit ton more systematic and completely take emotion out of it. Of course, probably impossible but the closer I can get to that state, the better trader I can develop into.
Without further ado, I hope the site helps you as much as it does me. Here are my studies for 8/20/2014.
These trend lines are drawn real time and only extended as the day goes on. The only trend line I drew 'after the fact' is the purple over/under line as that seemed to be the long term magnet spot (of the day).
Slowly but surely, what I've found overtime is these trend lines for the most part are work very well for me in either cutting losses or holding out and maximizing your gains - moving your stops. These lines also help me not to capitulate my stops or entries. When I've lost is when I've had poor entries (chasing ) or random, boredom trades. The drawback in these trend lines, for me at least, is micro managing each short term trend. Learn to see the bigger picture.
Take a look at DGLY for a short trade. The perfect trade for me would be to take a starter short risking to HOD on the first break in trend very early after the market opened and add along the way.
You can even extend the last down trend line to the previous high and plan 'if it breaks that trend, holds and perks over the last horizontal line, take profits.' This assumes you are in early in the trade and not chasing.
Of course, trading is the easiest job in the world in hindsight. In the moment, stick to your plans.

ReplyDeleteone thing ..... trading lines are great as I use them... BUT one thing is anticipation for the bigger picture...that's where sometimes the 90 minute trend lines don't matter.. msg me any time on twitter @arminm5
